Libra

This illustration is part of the Zodiac Series which is a personal passion project. The objective and purpose of this series is to depict the astrological signs as Black Goddesses. This is something that is rarely seen in astrology illustrations on the market or in the art world in general. This lack of representation is problematic because it perpetuates the erasure of Black bodies and spirits from astrological practices, belief systems, and communities. This erasure assumes the exclusion of an entire group of people as part of the cosmos, which is obviously not owned by any one person/group of people, but shared by all things that exist throughout the universe. Black people involved or interested in astrology WANT to see reflections of themselves as part of the cosmic community. This series aims to answer that call.
