Fuana Studies: Fish

While I was working on a mermaid commission, I got into doing studies of fish and other water dwelling creatures. Always interested in texture. But with animals, it’s an interesting exercise to get in touch with how it moves in its environment too. Another point of practice was loosening up and not overpainting to the tiniest detail….but still capture the essence of the subject. I’m also still interested in capturing personality, attitude, and mood in the way I would with portraits.
